Introduction to Measuring Angles - no assignment

Introduction to Food Bank - we will start on Monday
Students were very excited to start math today as we worked with using a virtual protractor to measure angles. The virtual manipulative allowed the students to create an angle using line segments and then measure the angle using a protractor. The students needed to first determine if the angle they created was an acute or obtuse angle. After they determined this, they were able to use the protractor to measure the angle in order to determine the degree measurement of the angle. I was very impressed with the ability of students to measure the angle and reverse the protractor in order to get the correct measurement of each angel. We will use a plastic protractor on Monday in order to measure the angles of angles in our workbook.
State Report
We are coming to an end on our state reports. The students have done an awesome job with paraphrasing their research and publishing their information onto an appealing Google Drawing. As a class, we discussed the importance of including the expectations as outlined in the rubric. I reminded the students that the items that have an error are mandatory and the items with diamond bullets are suggestions on how they can fulfill the requirements for the given expectation. Also, the students only need to include 2-3 details for each expectation. Furthermore, we discussed the importance of having separate paragraphs with introduction sentences and a proper heading. The students agreed that this helps the reader easily understand their document. Next week will be the last in class week to research as the following week will be spent on finalizing our reports. If students feel behind, they can access their document using Google Classroom.
Unit 6 Animal Inquiry
I am so very proud of the work the students have put into this inquiry project. The students are researching the habitat, diet, predators, adaptions, and interesting facts about an animal of their choosing. The students will be presenting their projects next Friday. The assignment notebook code is for the students to identify one piece of information they have learned while doing research for their animal of choice. I hope you all have a great weekend and I look forward to another great week of learning!
