Reminder:
Please take the MyVoice Parent Survey if you have not done so already. The MyVoice Parent Survey measures your perceptions of your experience and your child's experience at Arrowhead. The Billings School District wants to learn how you view the teaching and learning that occurs at our school, and how those views align with our mission and vision. All teachers and 3rd-5th grade students have taken a short student and teacher MyVoice Survey as well.
This survey is completely anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. The survey must be completed by December 16th.
To take the survey, go to www.myvoicesurvey.org and enter the code 09eba7. Thank you in advance for your participation.
Today the students continued to learn about the Atlantic States as we journeyed to the Middle Atlantic Region. The purpose of the text today was for the students to learn about the geography and economy of the Middle Atlantic states. The students continue to make connections between the geography, economy, history, and culture of each region we read about. We also started to look at the reading skill "making generalizations." The students look at facts from the text, identify what is similar with these facts, and make a generalization about what they read. This is an important skill to have especially when looking at research.
The students have now had their first experience with the Project Lead the Way science curriculum. We will start learning about energy after the winter break is over. The students organized all of the parts into bins and are ready to go for when the break is over. We will wrap up our focus on properties of matter this week in order to be ready for energy in January.
We continued our focus today on measurement as we looked at different customary units of capacity. The students have now learned how we measure length, weight, and capacity in our customary system. We will look at how we can change between different units of measurement and why this skill is important. The assignment notebook code for today is for the students to identify the smallest unit of capacity we discussed today. The students should identify a teaspoon as the smallest unit we looked at today. I hope you have a great night and I look forward to another day of learning tomorrow!
