Today was another great day! We continue to learn about the eastern part of the United States in our Lead21 unit and in our social studies unit. The Lead21 text presents information for each region with a focus on geography, economy, history, and culture. Students will begin their inquiry project on Friday. This inquiry project will have the students working in pairs with the intent of presenting the Atlantic region as a tour guide company. I look forward to seeing the creative presentations each group will prepare.
The students took their multiplication test today. I am very impressed with how far each student has come with multiplying larger numbers. We will continue using these skills as we continue begin a measurement unit and tackle division after our winter break.
We have started using the D2Student Apps as a way to keep notes in our social studies curriculum. The students will keep notes for each section we read and will create a study tool so they can study the states and capitals for the Northeast region. We will finish this study tool tomorrow so that students can begin studying at home.
Our word of the day today was urban. Students had some familiarity with this word from their Lead21 unit on community in 3rd grade. We will continue to see this word appear as we study the regions of the United States. The assignment notebook code for tonight is for each student to identify a characteristic of an urban city. I hope you all have a great night and I look forward to another great day of learning!
I am a fourth grade teacher going on my seventh year of teaching. I have truly loved every year that I have taught and I look forward to sharing classroom activities we take part in during this upcoming school year!
