We are almost done with testing. We just have a few students to finish up with the last Language/Reading assessment tomorrow. I am so very proud of the tenacity of all students and the pride they have taken in all they have accomplished this year!
On a different note...spring has sprung! It is so beautiful outside and the weather is wonderful; however, we still get to be in school. Many students have made the choice to "unplug" from school and become a distraction for those who wish to still learn. We still get to have 6 weeks of school and I would love to have students engaged up until noon on June 2nd. Please discuss with your student tonight the importance of maintaining their professional student behavior. I know that students will make the choice to "plug in" and we will have a great rest of the year.
The students learned reviewed solid, 3-dimensional, figures today during our math lesson. We discussed how we can define a solid figure by the number of flat surfaces, the number of vertices, the number of edges, and the polygons that make up the shape. We will incorporate these solid figures into our Geometric Google Drawings as a way to show case all the geometric terms we have learned.
Energy is everywhere. We discussed the different types of energy we experienced yesterday during our energy conversion rotations. The students learned about chemical energy, light energy, mechanical energy, and thermal energy. The assignment notebook code for tonight is for the students to identify the type of energy we experienced in a glow stick. They should mention how there was a chemical reaction that case light to be emitted. I hope you all have a great night and I look forward to another great day of learning!
