Reminders:
The students finished reading our non-fiction piece today on Living Green. The students learned what they could do to advocate for a better place to live and why it is important. We will begin a realistic fiction piece tomorrow about a village and a group of whales. The students will see how a village advocated for the survival of a group of whales.
The students used the area model as a tool for multiplying multi-digit numbers. This tool helps us use the distributive property in order to make a multiplication problem simpler to understand and complete. To the right you can see an example of a problem using the area model. In this problem, you look at the value of each digit and multiply according to that value. The students really found this tool effective, efficient, and simple to use.
We continue to look at the properties of matter in science. The students learned the similarities and differences between the properties of matter. We discussed how the atoms interact with each other in each state and the characteristics of each state of matter. The assignment notebook code for today is for the students to tell you one characteristic of either a solid, liquid, or gas. I hope you all have a great night and I look forward to another awesome day of learning!
- Please make sure that students come to school with a change of shoes when the weather is cold. As I told the students today, I do not want students wearing boots all day as they start to get stinky from the wet and sweat.
- When picking up your child, please make sure you do not pull into the Arrowhead Parking lot. This is a procedure we have established to ensure the safety of all our students.
