What a quick day! We were able to get a lot of learning in during our half day of school.
We discussed how the United States celebrates our national heritage and summarized what we have learned so far with heritage. Please make sure that students have information for their family tree and family recipe by tomorrow. We will start doing our inquiry project tomorrow and researching the parts of our heritage. Students will choose one specific country/area of origin and research this area. I look forward to seeing what students learn about where their ancestors came from.
Students read about how Fallen Rock and his brother, Running Water, had the opportunity to talk about their experiences along the way. The students have truly appreciated the relationship between these two brothers and learning about the U.S. along the way. I plan on finishing the book by the beginning of next week. We will have Bill Merical visit the classroom October 9th. We are so excited to meet him!
Our word of the day today was resourceful. As I told the students, this is one of my favorite words to use in the classroom. Students discussed how they can be resourceful as a way to solve a problem. The assignment notebook code for tonight is for your student to tell you how they have been resourceful. I hope you enjoy your half day with your student and I look forward to another day of learning tomorrow!
I am a fourth grade teacher going on my seventh year of teaching. I have truly loved every year that I have taught and I look forward to sharing classroom activities we take part in during this upcoming school year!
