Reminders:
The students refined their skills today in using a search engine to find the answer to a question. We discussed the importance of determining what we really want to know and what keywords will help in finding the information we desire to know. The students practiced these skills as they tried to find information on dogs. These skills will be helpful as the students continue to research topics throughout the school year.
Students have continued to improve their reading skills and strategies as they read in their differentiated reading groups. The students have shown their progress in determining the author's purpose for writing a text and inferring why an event in taking place in a book. I continue to work with the students on determining important events in a fictional story. The students tend to either include too many events or not include the events that make the story evolve as it does. I will continue to work with the students throughout the year in determining if an event is important in being able to understand the story.
We are wrapping up our weather unit next week. The students did a great job today with our weather review. I have encouraged the students to take home their science notebooks in order to study for the weather test next Monday. The students did a great job with the review; however, they relied on their science notebooks as a resource. Students will not have the opportunity to use their notebooks on the test as I want to know what they understand without any outside resources. The assignment notebook code for tonight is for students to identify what topic/idea they will need to study the most before our test on Monday. I hope you all have a great night and I look forward to another great day of learning!
- Please remember to bring cake for the Halloween Family Fun Night. Arrowhead Halloween Family Fun Night is this Friday from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
- Mrs. Gray's Family Fun Afternoon at The Corn Maize is this Saturday starting at 2:00. The cost is $7 per person over the age of 4.
- Please check to make sure the times I scheduled for your parent-teacher conference will work. If the time I scheduled for you does not work, please contact me as soon as possible so we can reschedule. I look forward to discussing your child's strengths and opportunities for growth!
