We have officially been in school for a Monday. A lot of the students, and their teacher, were a little tired today; therefore, I suggested that all of us go to bed early tonight.
Today we started our first Lead21 unit looking at our heritage and where our ancestors came from. The students will be exploring the culture and heritage of others. Students will also have the opportunity to learn about their heritage that has been passed down from their ancestors in our weekly inquiry project.
This week the students are reviewing the long and short sounds of the vowel e. It is important for each student to gain a deep understanding of the sounds in our words this week. I will go over the words in class; however, it is equally important for students to practice at home. Students can use the Houghton Mifflin Spelling site to help them practice sorting and spelling the words correctly. If you happen to get a blank page when you open the link, simply refresh the page and the spelling content will appear for you.
We have started to use our online classroom management website. The students will be submitting their assignments through this website. I will have the parent access information at Open House so you can see their progress and scores for each assessment.
Our WOD today was essential. Your assignment notebook code is to have your student tell you an antonym for the word and to identify the e in the first vowel as long or short. They should tell you that it is a short e sound. Enjoy your night and I look forward to another full day of learning tomorrow!
