Happy Monday! I hope you all had a nice, relaxing weekend! We started taking the NWEA assessments today. The NWEA assessments get a benchmark on each students math, reading, and language skills. Today the students took the reading test and did a rock star job! I am so very proud of every student. I could tell that they put forth their best effort!
As a result of taking the tests, we did not get to our reading, spelling, WOD, or Journey of Fallen Rock. I have also postponed our place-value test until Friday of this week. We did do a review today of place-value and the students did a great job with the review!
We learned that hurricanes are often called "heat engines." The assignment notebook code for today is for your student to tell you one reason they are called "heat engines." They should mention the heat that comes from the energy during condensation, the warm ocean water, or the effects on a hurricane when it reaches land. Enjoy your night and I look forward to another great day of learning!
As a reminder... Saturday Live is this Saturday. If you would like to contribute to our classroom auction basket, please send your donation no later than Friday. I hope to see you all there on Saturday!
I am a fourth grade teacher going on my seventh year of teaching. I have truly loved every year that I have taught and I look forward to sharing classroom activities we take part in during this upcoming school year!
