What a great Friday! Although it was the last day of the week, the students did a great job with staying focused! I have updated the gradebook with every assignment I have turned in at the moment. I will send home a missing assignments report on Monday with the students.
Our word of the day today was aspire. The students discussed what they aspire to be and accomplish. Our word today went well with what we read about Celia Cruz. Celia aspired to be a singer and she accomplished this through hard work and determination.
We have been working on understanding the format of a one paragraph essay. The students are going through the writing process of brainstorming, organizing their thoughts, writing and editing drafts, and finally publishing. The students are expected to type a one page double-spaced essay by the end of the year. We will work on typing here in the classroom using our classroom Typing Club page. The students can also access this at home to gain extra practice.
I am so very proud of all of the students who ran today in the cross country race! Way to be tenacious and push to accomplish your best! I look forward to seeing you all race next week at the all city meet!
The assignment notebook code is for your student to tell you how they would use rounding to estimate 213 + 36. We will be using our rounding and estimating skills throughout the year to determine if the answers we get in math are reasonable. Enjoy your weekend and I look forward to starting another week of learning on Monday!
