Reading
This we we will look at how animals can change fictional narratives. Students will analyze the question: How do animal characters change familiar stories? As we look at each narrative, the students will analyze the details of each story to determine the theme, or lesson, of the story. During Reading Boost, students will continue our 3 day focus on writing summaries. We will focus our instruction on writing a main idea sentence, using 3 details to support the main idea, and finishing the summary with a conclusion.
Math
WOW! I am impressed with all the growth students have shown so far in math. Students are moving to the next step of multiplication objectives by multiplying a 2-digit number by 2-digit number. We will focus our attention on understanding multiplying based on the place-value so students have a strong foundation for understanding multiplication before beginning the standard algorithm.
Writing
We continue writing our personal narrative quick-writes this week. Students will write a quick-write for a special moment spent with a family member and a time when students overcame a fear. After this week, students will choose which quick-write they want to take through the writing process as we focus on writing a lead, adding dialogue, adding descriptive language, and finishing with a take away ending.
Weekly Code
Students will learn how to multiply using the Around the World strategy for solving 25 x 17.
