Changing Landscapes
We are becoming experts with how our landscapes change throughout time. Students have learned that weathering and erosion slowly change the landscape over time; whereas natural disasters like landslides, hurricanes, earthquakes, and tornadoes change the landscape quickly causing a crisis. Our Scholastic News this week discusses the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and how it changed the town of Pompeii.
Writing About Small Moments in a Personal Narrative
Good writers frequently start a text after being inspired by a story. We have used mentor texts the last 3 days to help with generating ideas for a personal narrative. The students will choose their topic tomorrow so we can go through the writing process with this writing. This personal narrative will be graded and placed in each student's writing folder as well as placed in their fourth-grade portfolio.
Multiplication Show What You Know
Our journey through multiplication concepts started today as the students had an opportunity to demonstrate what they remembered from third-grade multiplication standards. I am very impressed with the understanding of all concepts and I look forward to stretching each student. All students will need extra practice with multiplication facts as this was one area where most students struggled. The assignment notebook code for tonight is for the students to draw an array for the multiplication equation 3 x 7 = 21. They should draw an array with 3 rows and 7 dots in each row. I hope you all have a great night and I look forward to another great day of learning!
