Natural Disasters
Students continued learning about natural disasters and gaining a deeper understanding of how to navigate non-fiction/expository texts. Students have gained an appreciation for captions, heading, diagrams, and pictures as they have found these text features help us gain a deeper understanding and often answer the questions we have while reading. As we read about earthquakes, the students' curiosity was all shaken up. Students were very intrigued by tectonic plates, fault lines, and the natural disasters that happen because of the shifts/slips in the crust. We will continue learning about this next week as we did not finish our paired texts in our small reading groups and the students did not have an opportunity to finish their comprehension assignments.
Friday Math Mix-Up
Fourth-grade students have all become math lovers! Students are showing mastery of all the math concepts we have covered so far this quarter and have had the opportunity to dive deeper into math concepts during their time in break-out math sessions they attend. I am so proud of all the hard work students are displaying in tackling fourth-grade math standards! The assignment notebook code for this weekend is for the students to identify the concept they went over during their math session. The concepts covered were: subtraction with regrouping, subtraction across zeros, writing numbers in different forms, and writing numbers in different base systems. I hope you all have a great weekend and I look forward to another great week of learning!
