The students continue to learn how we can protect the Earth. This week we have learned how humans can change some of their habits in order to protect endangered animals and use our resources wisely. The students are all so very excited to work on their inquiry projects Friday as they have learned many facts throughout this will that will help them in answering their inquiry question.
Multiplication with the Distributive Property
The students have started multiplying single-digit factors by double-digit factors using the distributive property. Khan Academy has created a great video that explains how students are using the distributive property to solve multiplication equations. As stated in the video, the purpose of teaching this strategy is so students can understand how to find a product using mental math.
Journey of Fallen Rock
Fallen Rock is now journeying to the Rocky Mountains trying to find a pinecone from an evergreen tree. Fallen Rock came across a town that had received help from the group The Protectors of Our Land. The students have noticed the Protectors of Our Land are doing everything they can to conserve our natural resources. We will continue to read to find out how the Fallen Rock finds the pinecone.
Procedural Monster Text
The students have been learning how to write procedural texts and follow the procedural texts. We are writing how we can make a monster and will then create a Google Drawing showing what the monster should be. The assignment notebook code is for the students to identify the parts of the procedural text. The students should say that the parts are the title, the introduction text, the materials, and the directions. I hope you all have a great night and I look forward to another day of learning!
