The students are hard at work finalizing their Heritage Museum Projects. The students will need their artifacts and their heritage food for Friday. The students will only be graded on the information they have found and will not be formally presenting this information. Students will have some time to finalize their projects tomorrow and will have an opportunity to discuss a "dry run" of Friday. Please note that the part of the project that will be graded will be the slide presentation. The rest of the elements are part of a students opportunity to share their family with the class. I truly look forward to experiencing each student's family.
Living Green
Students are well on their way to learning about fossil fuels and alternative energy forms. We have found out how fossil fuels formed millions of year ago. We have also read that scientist are concerned as they think fossil fuels may run out in 2040. We are reading about other forms of energy and how we can understand these forms of energy. The students watched a video today regarding how hydrologists use ratings to understand measure water. We will continue learning about alternative forms of energy and humans impact the environment.
Mrs. Deborah
The students used their understanding for shapes today in order to create a quilt block. Many students had great designs and gained an understanding of how quilts are made.
Multiplying by Tens, Hundreds, and Thousands
It is essential students are able to see patterns as we gain understandings in math. Students need to be able to use their knowledge of tens hundreds, and thousands as a multiplication strategy. For example, students can multiply 6 x 400 by thinking of the 400 as 4 hundreds and then use the simple multiplication fact 6x4 to help come up with the solution. The students can use 6x4=24 if they think of the 4 as 4 hundreds because this will give them the opportunity to add 3 zeros to the ad and then add= 3 zeros. The assignment notebook code for tonight is for the students to identify the answer to 3 x 8. I hope you all have a great night and I look froward to another great day of learning!
