STEM Saturday- February 20th
I am so very excited about the next STEM Billings Saturday Events. The theme for this event is Energy and Engineering. The students will participate in hands on workshops about energy above and below ground as well as seeing engineering in action. The registration is now open and is filling up quickly. The cost for the event is only $20. If you would like to volunteer for this event, please visit the volunteer page. I will be there as one of the "teachers." I hope you can all join us for this exciting event!
We have gone to space, and beyond! I love our unit 4 theme in our Lead21 texts. We will get an opportunity to learn about space, who made discoveries in space, myths explaining space, and so much more. Today the students looked at how we can describe objects in space. We discussed how objects revolve around another object and how they also rotate, or spin, on an imaginary axis. The students practice summarizing and paraphrasing information from a video the last couple days as they watched a video explaining the phases of the moon and then created a Google Drawing showing their understanding of why the moon has phases.
We are getting closer to finishing our Northeast Websites. The next regions will go faster as the students have become experts in building and designing their website. The students will have a test on Friday and will be able to use their website to help them out. The assignment notebook code is for the students to show you their website (code is arrowhead) and write down one interesting fact. I hope you all have a great night and I look forward to another great day of learning!
