Exploring Space
Our journey into space today brought us to understanding how astronomers use technology to make discoveries. We learned how there are satellites and space probes that are sent into space to help us capture images of the "great beyond." We also learned about technologies we use on Earth that were originally created for space. For example, our cell phones are able to work because of satellites that orbit Earth.
Division
Students are using base-ten blocks and the relationship between multiplication and division to help solve problems with multi-digit dividends. Students have gained an understanding of how we use the divisor to determine the number of groups and the dividend is shared as equally as possible into each group. The students have used many strategies to get to the same quotient. They will begin to use the traditional algorithm as a way to solve the division problems.
Southeast Region
We continued to learn about the Southeast region today as we looked at landforms, capitals, and major ports that are in the Southeast region. The assignment notebook code for tonight is for the students to identify one feature they have learned about the Southeast region. I hope you all have a great night and I look forward to another great day of learning!
