The students added to their knowledge on types of energy today as they started going through energy rotations. As we wrap up our unit on energy, I wanted to take a moment to give the students time to revisit types of energy and how the PLTW units tie into the energy we use every day. The students started the energy exploration stations today and will have time to finish tomorrow. The station topics were: energy caused by friction, chemical energy, how color impacts heat absorption, electrical energy, and thermal energy.
Animal Adaptations
Spotted touguins, shaky snakes, and venators, OH MY! Students synthesized the information we have learned about animal adaptations by creating their own animal. Students were tasked with choosing an environment and then creating an animal that would survive in that environment based on chosen adaptations. Students also had to use the line and shape tools in Google Drawings to create their animal. I am very impressed with the animals that the students created and the descriptions that students wrote for their animals. If you have a moment, take a look at your student's creation in Google Classroom.
Geography Street Challenge
The students will have a running project during our 2 geography units. I have tasked the students with creating their own street view using lines, angles, and geometric shapes. The assignment notebook code for tonight is for the students to come up with the name of their town they will be creating. I hope you all have a great night and I look forward to another great day of learning.
