Inquiry and GoMath! Chapter 2 Test
I am very impressed with all of the hard work each student has put forth to make their inquiry presentations the best. The students have practiced their presentations and are ready to present in front of the class tomorrow. We have also finished chapter 2 in our math books. The students will take the chapter 2 test tomorrow using their GoMath! accounts. The students have been instructed to take their GoMath books home and keep them at home. If they have any assignments that are not done, they are to finish those and return them. Please note that we did not do every Practice and Homework assignment in the book.
Unit 2 Paragraph
Where's the evidence? Students used textual evidence to answer our theme question, "How can we protect Earth's resources?" This is the first time this year students have had to write a paragraph using evidence from a source and not their own details. I explained to the students that the skill of answering a question based on evidence will be used throughout their time in school and in their career of choice.
Correcting Sentences
One of the skills we focus on in fourth grade is writing complete sentences. We have covered the parts of a sentence, subjects and predicates. We have also discussed sentence fragments, run-on sentences, and complete sentences. The students used these skills today as they identified and correct sentences. I have told all students they will be graded on their sentences from here on out as I know they are all capable of writing complete sentences.
Colliding Cars
Crash! Boom! Oh no! Our VEX cars collided today as we started to look at collisions. The students are using ramps and the VEX cars as a way to test what happens during collisions. The assignment notebook code for tonight is for the students to identify one observation they made during their experiment. Have a wonderful night and I look forward to another great day of learning!
