Today the students talked about making memories during our time together as fourth graders. I read to the class one of my favorite books, Wilfrid Gordon MacDonald Partridge by Mem Fox (the title of the book will take you to a read aloud of the book). The story tells us how a little boy tried to help an old lady remember. I discussed with the students how we are going to spend the year together making memories and helping each other. The students have a homework assignment tonight relating to the book. I have asked the students to bring 3 items that remind them of special memories they have made. We will share these tomorrow and then we will be writing about them next week.
Summer Shorts
The students had the opportunity today to share their summer photo collages. I truly have enjoyed hearing all of the stories that have accompanied the pictures. If you have not had an opportunity to send me a collage, you may do so. Please let me know if you are okay with me posting the collage online.
The students started writing a short story today telling about one of their summer adventures. Many students are realizing that they like to share too many details for their stories. This activity is requiring students to limit the amount of details they use and only share the essential pieces of information.
Student Google Accounts and Writing Emails
WOW! Thank you all for sending back all of the forms, especially the technology permissions forms. It was so very nice to be able to have all students start using their Google Student Accounts today. The students have been able to create an account on their Chromebooks and practice writing their email. Each student's email follows the email code: [email protected]. The assignment notebook code for tonight is for the students to write their email address in their planner. Please have the students write their email address as I want them to get even more practice. We will continue practicing using our email accounts tomorrow followed by an introduction to Google Drive next week.
I hope you all have a wonderful night and I look forward to another great day of learning!
