Art
It is not often I can take part in an art project with the class. Today, the students had me as their art teacher as their was no sub for Mrs. DelCostello. The students practiced making different letters and patterns as they created an "About Me" art piece.
Number Forms
Students will be required to master identifying the number, word and expanded form for numbers during their fourth grade year. The students reviewed each form today and practiced spelling the digits and tens correctly in their math journals. We will apply these skills on Tuesday when we work together with writing numbers in standard form when given a number in word or expanded form.
Newton's 2nd Law-Daily Code
We live to move it, move it! The students experimented today with a hot wheels car to see what would happen to an object's acceleration if we applied the same force and increased the mass of the object. The students saw that the mass of the hot wheels car directly impacted the speed of a hot wheels car as it went down an inclined plane. The students realized that if an object's mass increases, its speed will increase if it is released on an incline plane. We will experiment with what happens to the force needed to excel an object on a flat plane as the mass of an object increases. The daily code is for the students to identify what happened to the distance the hot wheels car was able to cover as we increased the mass of the car. The students should identify that the distance the car covered increased as we added mass (erasers) to the hot wheels car. I hope you all have a great long weekend and I look forward to another great day of learning on Tuesday.
