Students were introduced to the inquiry project for unit 1 today. The students will present their heritage in a Heritage Museum format. The students will need to identify 2 items that represent their heritage, research the countries their ancestors came from, and provide a food item that represents their heritage. We will try for October 13th for the Heritage Museum. The students will need to know which country of origin they want to research by next Friday. I will have a letter in the Tuesday folders explaining more in depth the other items that the students will need to bring from home.
What is a Scientist?
The students had an opportunity to start identifying what a scientist is to them. The students drew pictures that showed their interpretation of a scientist. We will discuss these drawings on Monday and discuss different scientists that help us understand our world.
Pre-Write for a One Paragraph Essay-Daily Code
The students started using the t-chart tool to organize their ideas for the writing topic "What do you want to be when you grow up?" The students identified the topic, wrote the key ideas, and details for each idea. We will continue using this tool on Monday as we write our first graded essay. The code for the students is to identify one key idea for their essay. I hope everyone has a great weekend and I look forward to another great day of learning!
