Reminders
Thank you to all of the parents who have attended the Parent Teacher Conferences so far. I have truly enjoyed the time we have spend talking about success and goals for the rest of the year. I look forward to another day of conferences.
Today the students learned about the endangered sea turtle and Florida Panther. Many of the students continue to reflect on the environmental problems to humans. We will continue to discuss what we can do in order to make better choices so that future generations can enjoy what we enjoy today.
The students began diving into the whys of multiplication today through using the place-value disks and charts multiplication strategy. The students have to use their understanding of place-value and multiplication as repeated addition in order to model a problem. Below is an example of one of the problems we worked through together as a class. In the problem you can see 56 rocks represented in 4 groups (boxes). The students discussed that this strategy shows what we know and our understanding; however, it is not the most efficient way of doing multiplication because it takes so long to model.
- The Book Fair continues this week and will wrap up this Friday.
- The Veteran's Day Program will be next Monday, November 10th. The performance for parents will start at 8:30.

Mrs. Deborah came in today to work with the students on identifying the history of quilting. The students are working on building a presentation for their mini inquiry project. The students will present their knowledge to the class within the next couple of weeks and we will then be able to start the process of sewing. The assignment notebook code for tonight is for the students to tell you one fact they have learned about quilting. I hope you all have a great night and I look forward to another great day of learning!
