Reminders:
Today the students began reading about Glashka and her village. The students learned how the village has to rely on the sea and the life supported by the sea. The students will begin to see how natural problems not caused by humans can make a difference in the life of a whale. I look forward to continuing this short realistic fiction piece with the students.
We continued looking at the importance of sentence fluency in our writing. The students listened to 4 paper and discussed the effectiveness of the sentence fluency present in the paper. It is important students look at the types of sentences used, how the sentences start, the length of the sentence, and the fluidity of the sentences read together. We will begin to practice changing our sentences in order to have adequate sentence fluency.
We started learning about how North America was populated. The 2 groups of people we read about today were the Native Americans and the Spanish people. The assignment notebook code for tonight is for your student to tell you how the Native Americans or the Latinos came to North America. They should mention that the Native Americans crossed the land bridge in between Asia and North America in order to hunt and the Latinos came to North America when Christopher Columbus wanted to find an efficient way to get to Asia. I hope you all have a great night and I look forward to another day of learning!
- As the weather remains cold, please remember to send students to school with a change of shoes so they are not wearing boots all day.
- This month's Family Fun Night is going to be Friday, November 21st. I am going to change the theme of the night to snacks and games. I am going to confirm with Mrs. Meier that we can use our classroom for the night. Once I have confirmed this, I will send home an informational flyer on the night. I look forward to enjoying a night of family fun!
