- Day 2 of science MontCAS is tomorrow.
- The theme for tomorrow is wear animal print in honor of the book If I Ran a Zoo.
Today was a successful Tuesday packed with ample opportunities for learning. The students reviewed the comprehension strategies we have learned about so far this year as we discussed the importance of monitoring our comprehension as we read. We made book marks that we will use as a way to determine our level of understanding for the text we are reading. There are four levels of understanding we identified 1) It's crystal clear. 2) It's a bit hazy. 3) It's cloudy. and 4) I'm in a fog. Students will use these bookmarks as a tool during our reading groups and independent reading to identify if they understand a text and what they can do if they need to gain understanding.
We started to brainstorm how each group might build their model for the PLTW energy conversion model. The students first researched how others have solved the restraint problem as a way to generate ideas to help solve the class problem. There were many creative and innovative solutions the students came up with. I look forward to seeing how these models come to being.
The habit we will focus on this week is creating balance in our lives. We read about a character who was only reading and did not spend time focusing on her heart, body, or soul. The students discussed how we can become imbalanced if we do not take care of all of ourselves. I challenged the students to do something different when they go home in order to create balance in their lives. The assignment notebook code is for the students to identify what they did that was different from what they normally do. I hope you all have a great night and I look forward to another great day of learning!
