Tomorrow we honor Dr. Seuss by wearing red, white, and black for the Cat and The Hat. The students did a great job finishing the MontCAS science portion today. We are done testing for the time being; however, we will have SmarterBalance testing and NWEA testing coming up in April.
Our conversation for morning meeting today was discussing how what we are in control of and what we cannot control. The students discussed how we do not always have the choice as to when we take care of our minds, body, heart, and soul; however, we do have control over how we react to any given situation. I will continue to discuss with the students how they can control their reaction to have a positive outlook and balanced life.
We finished our non-fiction section on the Central Region today learning about the culture of the SouthCentral states. The students learned about the music and pastimes that are part of this regions traditions. We will continue to use visualizing and monitoring comprehension as we read.
Students used the skills they have learned about making common denominators today as we subtracted fractions. The class is coming along with understanding parts of a fraction and how they can use operations to solve problems. We will continue with multiplying fractions next week and then move onto geometry.
Many students came home today with a letter regarding Chromebook use. I was very disappointed to find students using applications during inappropriate times. If your student came home with a letter, please discuss the content of this letter, sign it, and return the letter tomorrow. The assignment notebook code is for each student to identify one agreement we reviewed during class. The Technology Use Agreement is attached to this post.
