Where did the week go? A shorter than usual week, but possibly a busier than normal week! :) We are hitting division hard, so PLEASE check in with your 4th grader regarding this. We are trying to learn a variety of strategies to help us solve. Any way they solve, they NEED to easily recall their multiplication facts so please continue to practice to improve their speed and accuracy.
We have been using the Division Family to help us remember the steps to complete problems using the standard algorithm. Dad - Divide, Mom - Multiply, Son - Subtract, Cat - compare, and Daughter - bring DOWN.
Southeast states are up in social studies and we hope to identify the location of the states and capitals tomorrow with a test early February. We continue working with PLTW: Energy and Collisions with today's lesson dealing with kinetic and potential energy. Students are looking at how force and energy will play a roll as they design a way to protect their 'egg' passenger.
Reading continues to provide informational text on the patterns of the sky and will continue for a couple more weeks. Tomorrow we will continue to gather information as we determine our inquiry focus questions.
Please review the science fair information from the previous post. More information will be available soon and as I receive it I will be sure to let you know!
CODE: Get excited for the science fair!!
