What a wonderful day we had today. The author of Journey of Fallen Rock came to our classroom today to discuss the book and answer questions. Bill Merical explained to us how he came up with the idea for the book and why he wrote the book. The overall theme Bill wanted the students to get from the book was how we respect ourselves and others matter. We need to make sure we are carrying for our world and those around us. I was so very proud of all of the students in the classroom. They all enjoyed his visit and did a great job with asking questions. I encourage you to discuss today's visit and what your student got out of Bill's talk with our class. We truly are fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet with Bill!
The students finished the story of Celia Cruz today. We will be finishing our unit on heritage this week and next week in order to move on to the next unit on the environment. We have all enjoyed learning about our heritage and customs that are part of our past. I look forward to seeing each student's presentation and sharing our culture with each other next Wednesday.
We continue to learn about our state of Montana during social studies time. The students learned about the agriculture in Montana. We will be using this knowledge next week when we go to the NILE Agriculture Education experience. The assignment notebook code for tonight is for your student to tell you one of the top agriculture crops in Montana. I hope you enjoy your night and I look forward to another great day of learning!
