The Science Fair is coming, and 4th graders will be taking part in it at Arrowhead as well as have the opportunity to be a part of the Billings Clinic Science Fair Expo. The Billings Clinic will be holding their annual, "Getting Started Workshop," for the Science Expo on January 24th from 11:30-1:30 at the Billings Public Library (Community Room). It's a fun workshop that will help teach the students about the scientific method and engineering design.
February 27: Applications for Billings Clinic Expo due
Thursday, March 26: Science Fair at Arrowhead - requirement for all 4th graders
Friday and Saturday, March 27-28: Billings Clinic Science Expo, optional
We will be reviewing the project requirements as well as the scientific method in school, however the project itself including the experimenting and board must be completed outside of school.
Here is a suggested timeline to assist in helping your 4th grader complete the science fair project:
Feb. 2-6: Students must decide what question they will pursue, design the experiment,
decide one “variable” and define the “controls” of the experiment. They must make a prediction…
“If….., then……”
Feb. 9-13: Decide and gather necessary materials
Feb. 17-20: Experiment!
Feb. 23-27: Wrap up projects soon!
Feb. 27: Billings Clinic applications due
***Applications for the 2015 Billings Clinic Science Expo can be found on-line at www.billingsclinic.com/scienceexpo. Elementary/middle school applications are due February 27th.
Mar. 2-6: Review the scientific method board and abstract papers. We will try to meet during lunch to go over abstract requirements for those students participating in the Billings Clinic Science Expo. Both science fair board and journal/science fair log is also needed
Mar. 9-13: Finishing Touches!
Thursday, March 26: Science Fair at Arrowhead - all 4th graders
Friday and Saturday, March 27-28: Billings Clinic Science Expo, optional
This is always a fun project and experience for the students!
Have fun!!
