"You may never know the answer if you don't ask the question."
This quote was so very applicable to our learning today. The students used questioning strategies to gain a deeper understanding of our unit 6 text. The students realized that asking questions before, during, and after we read allows us to become engaged in our reading and have a desire to understand.
We applied our knowledge of place value today as we learned about the place value of decimals. The students were truly curious with how we can manipulate numbers in the decimal system. We learned that tenths, hundredths, and thousandths are all related because we use the base ten system. Furthermore, many students were able to understand how to say a given decimal number and how to identify the value of a given digit within that number. We will continue working with decimals tomorrow and work towards converting decimals to fractions and fractions to decimals.
I am so very proud of all the students who performed in the recorder concert. I can tell they have all worked very hard and take pride in what they do. The assignment notebook code for tonight is for the students to give a synonym for the word perseverate. I hope you all have a great night and I look forward to another great day of learning!
I am a fourth grade teacher going on my seventh year of teaching. I have truly loved every year that I have taught and I look forward to sharing classroom activities we take part in during this upcoming school year!
