Reminders:
Today the students continued to learn how we can protect our environment and natural resources. The students began looking at some endangered animals. As we read, the students have noticed a common connection between all of these problems are human impact. We will continue to discuss how we can be part of the solution and not create a bigger problem.
We discussed our metacognition today in our reading groups. The students learned that metacognition is thinking about your thinking. It is important that students monitor their comprehension as they read in order to engage in the book their are reading and gain a true understanding of what the author wants us to know.
As we transition into the second quarter, the students are busy with showing what they have learned about the structure of a well organized paragraph. The students are finishing their paragraphs so that I can show them off during the parent-teacher conferences.
We started diving into multiplication today. It is extremely important that each student practices their multiplication facts in order to gain fluency with knowing these facts. Today the students learned how to understand a multiplicative comparison problem. The assignment notebook code for tonight is for the students to tell you a multiplicative comparison sentence for the problem 3 x 5 = 15. The sentence should include the phrases "__ times as many as ___ is __." I hope you all have a great night and I look forward to another great day of learning!
- The Riverside Jazz Band has been asked to play at the capital building in Helena this January. The Jazz band needs our help with getting there. This Wednesday, the students can bring a small, snack size bag of candy for just $1. All the money will go towards helping the Riverside Jazz band get to Helena.
- Report cards will go home tomorrow in the Tuesday folders.
- I am looking to have the next Family Fun Night November 21st or 22nd. I would like to have a Mrs. Gray's class turkey dinner. Please let me know if this is something you would be interested in taking part in.
