Happy Friday! What a great 2 days I have had with the class. I truly enjoy being with all of the students and I have missed being their teacher.
Next week we are celebrating reading using Dr. Seuss books and dressing up each day using a book by Dr. Seuss.
We will also be taking the science portion of the MontCAS next week. Each student will need to be well rested and have a good breakfast each day of the test. The students will be taking the science test on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
The students were excited to start their unit 5 Central Region inquiry project today. I have given the students the option of choosing their presentation tool and their partners. I will be looking for presentations that focus on the culture, history, geography, and economy of the Central Region.
The students use their skills of finding the common denominator as a way to order multiple fractions. Students are showing that they are understanding fractions and will be ready to move onto geometry in the month to come.
Students were sent home with the new set of states and capitals to study for the Midwest region. The test for this region will be the second Friday of March. The students will be required to know the state, capital, and 2 major rivers. I will provide a word bank to help out with spelling; however, I will include states and capitals that are not in this region as to avoid getting an answer correct using the process of elimination.
Our word of the day today was distinctive. Students discussed how we distinguish ourselves from others. The assignment notebook code for tonight is for the students to identify one distinctive characteristic about themselves. I hope you all have a great weekend I will see you on Monday for another great week of learning!
