Our day was filled with learning, learning, learning! The students started out the day by showing what they know about unit 2: Living Green. I am very impressed with all of the information each student had taken in and how they were able to express their understanding through the reading responses. There are some students who need to finish their test on Monday; however, I am very proud of the results I have seen thus far!
The students worked on their inquiry projects today. Most groups are to the point where they are finishing their presentation and will begin practicing next week. Students have been using two tools for their presentation platform. Groups have chosen to use emaze and Google Drive Present. Both platforms are effective and professional ways to present what the students have researched.
We experimented today with volume and how to measure the volume of an object. The students used a non-standard unit of pinto beans today. We discussed what would happen if we used a larger unit of measure and a smaller unit of measure to determine the space an object takes up. The assignment notebook code for tonight is for each student to identify what would have to the measurement if we chose to use a lima bean (a larger bean than the pinto bean) as our unit of measure. The students should mention that the measurement would be smaller because the lima bean takes up more space. I hope you all have a great weekend I look forward to another great week. Next week is a short week of school as we only have class Monday and half day on Tuesday.
I am a fourth grade teacher going on my seventh year of teaching. I have truly loved every year that I have taught and I look forward to sharing classroom activities we take part in during this upcoming school year!
