It is good to be back! We had a great day of learning and catching up! I am amazed with what all the students have learned and how much they have grown!
We started the day off with a presentation from Dr. Barry McKenzie o the importance of restraints when riding in the car. The students learned a lot about myths with seat belts and the why we need to wear safety belts. We will be using our knowledge we gained today to help with our final model for the first Project Lead the Way task. The students will be tasked with creating a restraint system for an egg. I look forward to seeing how each group models their restraint system.
The students continued to learn about the Central Region of the U.S. during our reading group. We will use the concepts of geography, economy, culture, and history. Students will continue to focus on using visualization and determining the main idea. It is important that students use details to create images in their minds and identify the overall idea of the text.
We will continue working with fractions this week and through next week. Students will need to identify how to order more than two fractions and add/subtract fractions. As we finish our focus on fractions, I will continue to emphasize why we use the mathematics strategies that are introduced.
The assignment notebook code for tonight is for the students to identify one fact they learned during Dr. McKenzie's presentation. I hope you all have a wonderful night and I look forward to a great day of learning tomorrow!
